Description: This volume chronicles the life of six white-tailed deer, sharing a journey through the seasons from the viewpoint of the deer, vividly illustrating both behavior and the deer's perspective. The chapters read like "a day in the life," providing a rare glimpse at the behaviors of deer illustrating reproduction, courtship and mating, including the rut and behaviors leading up to it. The book has fourteen chapters. Chapter 1-12 chronicle the six deer's lives beginning in April and ending with March. Chapter 13 deals with the antler growth of one particular buck from the time it began growing its antlers in late March through velvet peel in late August. In the book's last chapter, Capturing the Moment, Alsheimer shares his secrets for photographing nature through words and photos.
